Animal Control
Welcome to the Town of Eddington, Maine’s Animal Control page. This office works to promote responsible pet ownership, enforce applicable animal welfare laws, and address concerns involving domestic animals within the community. Here you will find information on licensing requirements, reporting concerns, and resources to assist residents in keeping pets and neighborhoods safe and respectful.
The State of Maine requires that each municipality has an animal control officer. Anne Greenlaw is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Eddington. If you have a domestic animal problem, you can reach the Animal Control Officer by calling 945-4636 (Penobscot County Dispatch). They will either take the complainant’s phone number or will forward the message to Anne.

All complaints regarding undomesticated animals should be reported to the Maine State Warden Service at 941-4440.

If you own a dog and hear it barking, please be considerate of your neighbors and quiet the dog. If you leave your dog outside while you are not home, be aware and considerate of your neighbors that may be home.
Dog Licensing
Dog licenses are issued for one year ending December 31st. Any dog six (6) months of age or older must be licensed. Deadline for licensing is no later than January 31st and the next years licenses are usually available October 1st. Dog licenses can be obtained at the Town Office or online at https://www.maine.gov/dacf/ahw/animal_welfare/doglicense/index.shtml.
Dog License fees are as follows:

Neutered/Spayed Dog - $6.00

Unaltered Male or Female - $11.00

Kennel - $42.00

Late Fee - $25.00 will be charged for any license renewed after January 31st.
You must present the following documents at the time of registration:

A current Maine rabies certificate.

A neutering/spayed certificate if the dog has been altered.
Lost Animals
All lost or stray cats and dogs that are found by your local Animal Control Officer are taken to the Bangor Humane Society. So, if your cat or dog has recently gone missing, contact the Bangor Humane Society immediately. With proof of ownership and a photo I.D., you can help bring your lost pet home. Visit them at 693 Mt.
