The State of Maine requires that each municipality has an animal control officer. Joe Murphy is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Eddington.

If you have a domestic animal problem, you can reach the Animal Control Officer by calling 945-4636 (Penobscot County Dispatch). They will either take the complainant’s phone number or will forward the message to Joe Murphy. All complaints regarding undomesticated animals should be reported to the Maine State Warden Service at 941-4440.

If you own a dog and hear it barking, please be considerate of your neighbors and quiet the dog. If you leave your dog outside while you are not home, be aware and considerate of your neighbors that may be home.

Dog Licensing

All dogs over the age of six months are required by state law to be licensed and to wear their license tag. Dog licenses can be obtained at the Town Office.
